As a Managing Director of Mason Wells Venture Funds, Mr.
Broderick is primarily responsible for co-managing the venture investment
activities of the firm. In this capacity, Mr. Broderick is responsible for
initiating investment opportunities, structuring and negotiating transactions,
serving on the Board of Directors of the portfolio companies, working with
portfolio company management teams to create shareholder value, and arranging
for the orderly disposition of investments at a profit to the fund. Mr.
Broderick is a member of the Board of Mason Wells, Inc., and the Management
Committee of the firm as well as the Investment Committee for the venture
funds.
Mr. Broderick has over 17 years of experience in the biomedical
and venture capital industry. Prior to joining Mason Wells in 2000, Mr.
Broderick spent 18 years at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota were he
served as Director of the Office of Technology Commercialization and played
a key role in launching Mayo's Venture Fund. His leadership, scientific
and business skills helped develop the Mayo Clinic multi-campus technology
commercialization organization into one of the most successful and profitable
of its kind. He has personally evaluated the commercial potential of hundreds
of technologies in virtually every medical specialty. He has been directly
responsible for negotiating and consummating over one hundred different
commercialization agreements. He has extensive experience with technology
evaluation, market assessment, negotiations, academic institution technology
transfer and intellectual property management.
While at Mayo Mr. Broderick served on the Board of Directors
of Intratherapeutics Inc., CNSoftware, Medintell, Inc., as well as the Operations
Committee of Aesgen, Inc. Since joining Mason Wells, Mr. Broderick has served
as a member of the Board of Directors for Gala Design, Inc., and Mezzia,
Inc., and currently serves on the Boards of OpGen, Inc., Deltanoid Pharmaceuticals,
Inc., and ZyStor Therapeutics, Inc. In addition, Mr. Broderick is a co-founder
and currently serves as President of the Mid-America Healthcare Investor
Network (MHIN), is Vice President of the Wisconsin Venture Capital Association,
and is a member of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) Board
of Directors.
Mr. Broderick received a Bachelors Degree from Iowa State
University and an Appointment to the Staff at Mayo Clinic. |
